A sequel to Body Heat

Introduction:

I studied the film Body Heat, written by Lawrence Kasdan in film school in 1985. I was blown away by how tight the script was, and just everything perfect in its creation. Kasdan wrote a real winner. The film haunted me throughout my life, and I just knew Ned Racine had to get out of jail one day and find Matty Walker.

Over six years ago I finally sat down and put a sequel on paper.  I tried everything to get it to Kasdan - even talked to Emilio Estevez, who happened up to my Potions lounge one evening.  He loved the story and told me I had to figure out a way to get it to him in a very special way.  Well, unfortunately, William Hurt, Ned, the main character, recently passed away.  It broke my heart because I think he would have loved this script.  I wrote it with William Hurt, Kathleen Turner and Ted Danson in mind at the ages they are now.  I created what I feel are rich parts for all involved, with a film noir tone that I believe would have made Kasdan and the cast proud.  Sadly, I don’t think it would be the same without William.  But I thank all involved in the original film for inspiring me and for having such a strong impact on my life.

May advice - watch the film Body Heat as a refresher, if you haven’t seen it in awhile, then take a read of my script.  I think you will enjoy watching Ned get his revenge.
